I will preface this post and say that I RARELY use tape for my fingers. I save jiu-jitsu tape use for when I have any sprains in my ligaments or when they aren’t feeling too great from overuse. I prefer instead to go bare fingers because I feel like it helps with my proprioception. Just recently, however, I met the owner of PowerTrain tape and got a chance to train with him. I guess my gift for “choking him out” (his words not mine) was a roll of tape! I was happy to have it seeing as how since I rarely use tape, I never have any available!
Well, as luck would have it, a couple of different white belts caused a couple of different injuries to my fingers within the next few days. At one point, my left ring finger felt a little loose and I decided to give the Powertrain Tape a shot. The results: BEST TAPE I HAVE EVER USED FOR JIU-JITSU!
What I loved about it:
- The tape was immensely comfortable on my fingers.
- The tape did not peel off after rough training sessions. The adhesive remained the duration of each hour long sparring session.
- They protected my fingers
In the last 7 years, I have used plenty of different tape for my old, aging and achy jiu-jitsu fingers and none of them have ever distinguished themselves among the rest until now. Also recently, I had to borrow some other tape because I forgot my PowerTrain tape at home. The results were subpar and the adhesive did not last. I highly recommend purchasing!
