These last few days I have been taking a very introspective look at the last six years of my life. My journey has seen many ups and downs and its share of lateral movements too. I’ve taken steps forward. I’ve taken leaps backwards. I’ve sidestepped many obstacles and many great opportunities just the same.
As Jiu-Jitsu practitioners, it is important to always reflect on our journey. Always seek to understand the why’s and how’s of our practice. Jiu-Jitsu is much more than procedural learning. It is much more than a weekend retreat. It is a way of life and for a lot of us, it is life.
Jiu-Jitsu is important and understanding our paths is critical to our development.
Give Jiu-Jitsu respect by giving your way careful consideration. Always take a minute to reflect and meditate about your decisions on and off the mats. Take some time to meditate on your training sessions. Understand yourself in them and out.
Our progress is governed by the choices we make. If it is important to you, make the time. It will help more than you think.
